Woman On Monarch of the Seas Jumps Overboard

Neha Chhikara, 23, was Thursday reported missing by her husband while they were cruising on Royal Caribbean's Monarch of the Seas from Nassau to CocoCay.

 

Security cameras showed Neha Chhikara jump overboard from the 11th deck, early Thursady morning.

 

Monarch of the Seas is on a 5 day Bahamas cruise and will return to Port Canaveral Saturday.

Silversea Takes Delivery of the Silver Spirit

The Silver Spirit was delivered to Silversea Cruises in a ceremony at the Ancona shipyard on Saturday, Dec. 12.  Present were the Chairman of Silversea Cruises Manfredi Lefebvre d’Ovidio, while Fincantieri was represented by the Chairman, Corrado Antonini, and the Chief Executive Officer Giuseppe Bono.

At 36,000 tons and 195 meters long, the Silver Spirit is the largest vessel in the Silversea fleet. There are eight decks, and the ship has a cruising speed of 20.3 knots.... Read More

 SEOUL—Investors led by a U.S. firm placed an order with a South Korean shipbuilder for a $1.1 billion ship conceived as a floating luxury residence that will cruise the world visiting events like the Cannes Film Festival, the Sydney New Year's Eve celebration and Carnaval in Rio de Janeiro.

New 130,000 Ton Cruise Ship Ordered for Carnival

Carnival Corporation & plc has reached an agreement with Italian shipbuilder Fincantieri to construct a 130,000-ton cruise ship for its Carnival Cruise Lines brand, scheduled to enter service in spring 2012.

 To be built at Fincantieri’s Monfalcone yard under a U.S. dollar denominated contract, the all-in cost of the vessel is approximately $200,000 per lower berth.
