We're looking at booking an Alaskan cruise 2011. When is the best time for whale watching? Could be booking on Radiance of the Seas RCCL Vancouver to San Diego in Sept. - any comments on the ship / route?

they do small tours (6 to a boatHi There,
While I have not sailed to Alaska in many year we will be sailing this September as well on Rhapsody & I can tell you you will have the opportunity to see whales-Orca's,Humpback & Pilot from Juneau south to Victoria B.C. When I went to Alaska my first time in August of 81 we saw pods of killer whales entering & leaving Ketchikan as well as a humpback breaching and again entering Juneau (I was on a northbound cruise-tour). If you want to see whales up close than I suggest booking a whale tour with Harve & Marv in Juneau Harv & MarvThey do small tours (6 to a boat) so book early & enjoy
