We stayed at the Marriott...a wee bit pricey per day, but then again it was our 30th anniversary and said what the heck.  At any rate, try the Holiday on the Bay (or at the bay)....it is directly across the street from the terminal.  From what I have heard they have very reasonable rates...check them out.

Holiday Inn at the Bay...Oy syntax error on my part, so sorry...That is what happens after working a 12 hour shift and commuting 135 miles. round trip...lol..Also if you want some leads on food establishments we can give you a couple selections, depending upon how long you are staying in the area.  SD has some AWESOME food establishments.

Thank you Zingy. Holiday Inn is also a bit more then I can spend. I just upgraded my state room so I have to down grade my hotel lol. I will only be staying over night so I just need a place to lay my head for the night LOL

Have you had any luck yet on your search for a hotel/motel?  Kind of curious....friends of ours are wanting to look for a good deal also for our cruise in Nov 09 and any info you might have would be appreciated....Here is a thought also....have you tried "priceline.com"?  A coworker of mine uses that for trips to Nevada, etc and it seems to work well for them.  Maybe that could work for you as well.

Nothing yet, everything is a little high so I think I will just bite the bullet and go the same day as the cruise. I have never left from this port before and I still have 5 months to go so I'm sure I will find something. Thanks

We just booked our room a couple of days ago at the Best Western Yacht Harbor Hotel.  The rate was $79.00 a night.  We booked there with friends as we are staying for four days prior to the cruise to see some sights. We get free parking while staying there and since we are staying more than two days, we can park our vehicles at the hotel for free during our eight day cruise, with free shuttle service to and from the hotel....Best deal/price we have found yet for the SD area, especially around the port.
